Simon organised the tour this year and arranged for beautiful weather on our trip down and up the Exe estuary.
Departing from Exeter Quay, things did not start well when we arrived at our first stop, the Double Locks, to find that it was closed. Undaunted, we continued down the towpath to the Turf Hotel, where our intrepitude was rewarded with the first pint of the day.
After a bit of dancing we moved on to Starcross and, with only a brief stop at the Atmospheric Railway, we boarded the ferry for the crossing to Exmouth, where we lunched at the Grove.
Then we began the hard part of the tour, fighting our way through brambles and nettles along narrow paths and over a myriad of stiles, before arriving at the Swan in Lympstone for some well earned refreshment.
Thence, inland to the White Hart at Woodbury before returning to the Exe Estuary at the Lighter in Topsham and then a final dance back at the Quay in Exeter, before adjourning for some richly deserved pizzas.
