Stairway to Heaven

Stairway to Heaven Fieldtown

One of the dances with the Jimmy Page roll.

Dance starts with step from set on bars 1 and 2 to make a circle facing out, "up and out" on bars 3 and 4, backsteps and ftj and then in to half rounds (half way round the set).

The chorus is half rounds and then crossover with the Jimmy Page roll – 1st corners in the first chorus, 2nd corners in the 2nd chorus, middles in the 3rd chorus, everybody in the final chorus.

Normal figures between choruses.

Jimmy Page roll is closed sidestep left to nearly meet opposite, closed sidestep right to pass opposite turning left shoulder back so facing opposite, arms out strong for a momentary pause before galley left out into set position.

For the 3rd and 4th choruses, the middles need to stay out in the circle prior to the Jimmy Page roll, in the first two choruses they come into set position.
Finish at the end of the final Jimmy Page roll, galleying 1½ turns and standing facing out in a circle , hands raised for count of 3 (or 4, depending when you start counting!).

Remember the beginning – making circle facing in on beats 1 & 2. Middles need to step out, others need to turn and even step slightly in.

Middles need to stay in the circle at end of 3rd and 4th rounds, ready for their Jimmy Page roll. Finish with galley left 1½ turns to face out (make the circle).
