A summer holiday to Brittany - to celebrate Wheal Sophia's anniversary - together with Iron Men, Severn Gilders and Hobos.
A lot of us arrived on the Thursday and spent the evening in the village dancing, eating and drinking (but not necessaily in that order) - Anybody got any photos from the evening?
By Friday morning the stragglers had arrived, including those on motorbike (Dave B) and pedal bikes (Adrian, Lucy and Bob). We aclimatised to the camp site. To Pontivy in the afternoon where we danced before moving on to Mur-de-Bretagne where we danced again (and some of the more reckless members absailed down the church tower - video links Absailing (Paul and Richard S) and Absailing (Mike)). After that, back to the campsite for a relaxing evening.
Saturday was a gentle start and then we went to Lescouet where we danced before an evening meal and ceilidh.
Sunday we went to the market at Abbaye de Bon Repos before moving on to 'The Sausage Festival' (fete de l'andouille) at Guemene. We started with a performance on the stage in the town square (video link On the SpotOn the Spot) and spent the rest of the day here (including lunch and dinner) dancing at various spots around the town.
We had Monday free, giving time for cycling, swimming, walking, ...
Tuesday was back on the road to dance at Rostrenen, before moving on to Bonen for a very enjoyable barbecue and then on for a final cafe stop.
On Wednesday, fond farewells as we went on our weary way.
With great thanks to Penny for organising a splendid weekend.
